FG Opens Applications for Affordable Laptop, Smartphone and Tablet Loans for Nigerians

FG C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme application portal for laptop and smartphone loans in Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially opened applications for the Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme, a new initiative designed to make digital devices more affordable for Nigerians through flexible credit.

The programme is being implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy. It aims to help Nigerians own laptops, smartphones and tablets without paying the full amount upfront.

Instead, qualified applicants will receive a device and repay the cost through affordable instalments, making access to technology easier for students, entrepreneurs, freelancers, software developers, content creators and other professionals.

Why the FG C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme Matters

With the increasing cost of laptops and smartphones in Nigeria, many people struggle to afford the devices needed for education, remote work, software development, digital skills training and business.

The C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme was introduced to bridge this gap by providing affordable consumer credit for digital devices. It also supports Nigeria’s digital economy by promoting locally assembled laptops and encouraging digital inclusion across the country.

Who Can Apply?

The application portal allows different categories of Nigerians to register, including:

  • Salary earners
  • Freelancers
  • Self-employed persons
  • Business owners
  • Students
  • Job seekers
  • NYSC members

Applicants will provide information such as their state of residence, employment status, preferred device, monthly income (optional), and whether they participate in digital talent programmes like 3MTT, ALX, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa, Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn or Genesys Tech Hub.

Current Eligibility

Although applications are open, the current pilot phase is limited to fellows of the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme.

The pilot includes 1,000 laptops, with the first 77 beneficiaries already receiving their devices in Abuja. More qualified beneficiaries will receive theirs as the programme expands to other states.
